You don't need to do runs, it's easy enough without better armor and skills and what not. And with tomes you don't need runs, right?

I personally think it's lazy, any runner is paid for by lazy people.
That said, I'm lazy at times.

I think most runners are scammers. and Running is a waste of time. you can make more money in Desolation (noob farming spot) than you can running. Along with many other areas in the other chapters of the game.
Considering all the no pays, running is a waste of time. Which is the reason i stopped running.

[edit] I believe most runners are scammers because Myself and many i have spoken to have paid and then the runner would leave halfway through the run, or whenever they get the cash.

Actually, I believe most people that get ran are scammers. If the runner doesn't make it, he doesn't get payed. No scam there. But the people that get ran often times just leave and don't pay. As far as running goes, I believe the one of the funnest parts of MMOs are the freedom to be creative. It helps keep the lasting appeal up. I often feel as if Anet controls some things way to much and others not enough. But yeah, I think there is nothing wrong with running or certainly there are a lot of worse things that could use dealing with.

Actually, running can be a very good way to make cash. Not casual running, but serious service running. We have a running guild in our alliance and they are some of our richest players. Only allied members consistently richer are members of our [used-to-be-a-major-FFF-guild] guild.

I liken runners to public transportation (buses, taxis, subways, etc.). It's a service we pay for to convenience ourselves by not needing to do the work. It's not being lazy; it's taking advantage of the many services that are available to us.

There's nothing wrong with runners. After all, it's a mutually reciprocal service: runners won't exist if there aren't people who want to be ran. Can't really complain about runners without complaining about runnees.

runners are ok..they help in some parts of the game.
these days though i dont see much need for them..
some are scammers though like mission runners charging 3k for standard reward(jehnurs horde)comes to mind.

Do you use tomes?
Tomes are like runners, idf you have the money and already have it why not get it?

weather you are having trouble with the elite or if its too far away you can use a tome

They only ppl i will take to far away town are fellow guildies. I do it for free and wont take a 1rst toon (lets say lvl 10 or less) to a place they wont be able to deal with. If its not there first toon then i dont mind taking them where they want to go.
When i do take ppl to places i fight my way there, much more fun. Recently took a guildie to Drok after 3 runners fail to get him there. Took a bit of time but we had a great time.

I find that figthing my way to drok is much more of a challenge then running there.

Had another guildie rushing himself trought NF to get Primeval armor. Helped him a bit to get there. He now got his nice armor, but dont have gold to outfit his heroes with decent weapons, runes and skills.

I dont mind ppl getting runs and ppl that runs them. But if its your first toon and you want to enjoy the game try to follow the story line.

runners offer a service, its up 2 you if you want to use them or not

it doesn't have to affect you if you dont want it to!

I've noticed many people mention low level toons being "abandoned in places they can't progress". Hello, it's called map travel!

Outpost running is usually done to get max armour, or skip midgame content (the jungle). If you're "abandoned" just got back a step using the "m" key....

Runners are fine, why do u have to play thru an area/mission for the 10th time if u have enough money to pay someone to do it for u. They provide a valid service for the community and their prices arent that high to start with. And again nobody is ever forced to hire runners.

Power traders on the other hand...

I've used runners to get through missions and to places that I don't feel like fighting my way through to for the umpteenth time. Personally, I don't think anything is wrong with it.

Like anyone who has played through Prophecies many times , i have used them and dont have any problems with them at all, and CoF runs have been a good source of income for me.

Mind you not all runners cover themselves in glory..like the berks in Ascalon offering 'pro' runs to Piken Square.. that is just too funny

I don't have problems until I get the...you pay 1k here...thanks and zone. No I've never been stupid enough to pay before the destination but I get sick of hearing about all the runners that are scamming. That said I also get sick of all the people being ran who are scamming. If you can't/won't pay for a service don't use it. Ultimately its the people being ran scamming the runners that led to all this bs about paying before a run is complete. GG you scammers.

Yeah, I agree about the Kaineng run. That's pretty cold.

I have 2 accounts and run myself a lot of places when starting a new character now, and run guildies/allies or the random person from time to time. Really think you should play through the first time though. At least for the experience.

Runners are great for when I want to get a new pve character pvp ready and don't feel like actually taking the time to play through a whole storyline to do it.
